Rulings For This Past Saturday's Reviewed Games
The NLFA had an eventful week one start with their Battle of the Kingdom's Cross Over Kickoff Games.
Majority of the leagues games went off without a hitch, but unfortunately two games had to be called due to disciplinary issues. The NLFA has a ZERO TOLERANCE disciplinary policy. The league views such actions as an embarrassment to the league and the organizations involved. Up North the NLFA Champions (North Mississippi Roadwarriors) hosted the South Team The Louisiana Huskies. This game was called 2 minutes into 4th quarter due to the head official calling the police and stating his life was threatened. Punches were also thrown on the field of play and were caught on a GO Pro Camera mounted in the helmet of the RW'S center.
The NLFA elected to remove the Huskies Organization due to us carrying a policy on protecting our officials from verbal and physical threats of any kind.
A letter of removal along with a full refund was given to the owner, and we wish them well on their new journey within Developmental Football. The final score reported will stand of 26-6 (RW).
Unfortunately the RW's lost their officials behind this incident and are looking for a replacement crew.
The Magnolia State Knights hosted the 2024 Conference Champions the Bayou Lacombe Cardinals.
Per the head official and commissioner on scene altercations arose due to pushing and shoving (not appearing to be Football related) among both teams. At some point an altercation arose between a Bayou Lacombe Member and Magnolia State Knight member. Bayou Lacombe took the initiative to remove said member from their organization before the league had to get involved. Two members of the Magnolia State Knights were removed as well due to ejections taking place. A challenge ensued and controversy took place over a touchdown. The officials on scene did declare the touchdown good. The league did obtain the footage and reviewed the questionable call, but under our current bylaws, we cannot overturn an officials call made or unmade.
Per the head official and commissioner on scene it unfortunately appeared to them that neither organization would be able to successfully complete the game in a SAFE MANNER due to emotions still reigning high on both sides, so the game was called in 4th quarter with a final score standing of 28-25 (Knights).
Please Note: Our disciplinary policy is being updated. Any member found fighting, swinging or showing any signs of aggression will immediately be removed from the NLFA for the entire season per review for the following season. If the same team has another Infraction the entire team will be removed.
We will also be implementing a policy that if you are found starting a disturbance to end a game early your organization as a whole will be removed from the NLFA. Unlike other organizations we do NOT care about the Quantity of teams we have, we care about QUALITY. We started in 2021 with 6 teams and don't mind going back to that number.
We are all adults who claim to have a love for football and should know how to conduct ourselves in a professional manner. Sadly, if something is not done to ensure players are vetted correctly instead of just so a team can fill roster spots someone within the sport we all love is going to lose their life.
I will NOT and you SHOULD NOT make excuses for GROWN MEN, who should know how to control their anger. I personally refuse to have anyone's blood on my hands. The definition of INSANITY is: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. That is why our policies are so strict. Safety will always remain the TOP PRIORITY of this LEAGUE. If fighting and threats are what you deem football I suggest you find another home for your teams. It will NOT be tolerated here. We all have families to go home to, and I personally will NEVER and you should not ever want to jeopardize not making it home to yours.
Sincerely,
